Which? The Consumers’ Association — a chance to help influence the passing of a bill through Parliament doesn’t come along very often. Our challenge was to encourage MP’s to regulate the world of estate agency.

The idea that won the pitch demonstrated how easy it was to become an estate agent. Within 24 hours we opened the doors of 'Cheatem & Ripoff’ — a spoof estate agency. We also made our client a ‘qualified’ estate agent overnight for the princely sum of £143. Word spread, the story was soon picked up by the BBC, Sky News, and numerous national newspapers including the Guardian.

The stunts success contributed to a government rethink helping to raise the issue in Parliament and ultimately influence the passing of an act regulating estate agents.
